Para Juan Ramón Jiménez San Juan de la Cruz fue una gran inspiración. El poeta de Moguer lo percibía como el “primer simbolista”. El objetivo del artículo será describir la relación entre la poética de San Juan de la Cruz y la de Juan Ramón Jiménez en cuanto al funcionamiento en ella del símbolo. En el caso de Juan Ramón Jiménez el material de investigación será el volumen poético La soledad sonora (1908); en San Juan de la Cruz, sus tres poemas místicos: Cántico espiritual, Noche oscura del alma y Llama de amor viva.
For Juan Ramón Jiménez, San Juan de la Cruz was a great inspiration. The poet from Moguer perceived him as the “first symbolist.” The objective of the paper will be to describe the relationship between the poetics of San Juan de la Cruz and that of Juan Ramón Jiménez in terms of the functioning of the symbol. As for Juan Ramón Jiménez, the material for my research will be the poetic volume La soledad sonora (1908) and if it is about San Juan de la Cruz I will refer to his three mystical poems: Cántico espiritual, Noche oscura del alma and Llama de amor viva.
