This study analyzes the lexical availability of the center of interest Parts of the body in stu-dents of Educational Sciences at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, specifica-lly in students of the Degree in Primary Education and the Master in Teacher Training. The groups are compared according to their specialty, focusing the attention on those who study physical education, given their link with the subject studied. The overall quantita-tive and qualitative results coincide with previous research on lexical availability in future teachers (Santos, 2015, 2017; Herranz, 2020). However, the analysis by specialty reveals that the students generate vocabulary directly related to their academic area, especially in the case of those trained in physical education. These findings suggest that the academic spe-cialty may influence the construction of the lexicon of future teachers, an important as-pect for their professional performance in the educational field.
