The following article is centred upon the exploration of the concepts of “fictional world” and “translation problem”, which will be applied to the analysis of the composition of narrative structures in the science fiction genre and of the complexity of their transference into new languages and cultures. Moreover, it will focus on the possibilities of excluding human intervention in these processes and of translating these works exclusively by means of tools powered by Artificial Intelligence. To accomplish this goal, tales written by Isaac Asimov will be used and the notions (both original and coming from scientific and technical fields) employed to build his worlds and stories in the English language will be studied. Eventually, the functionality of the equivalents used by translators to build the target manifestation of these imaginary universes and to transmit it to Spanish-speaking recipients will be assessed.
