The article analyzes the dramatic texts Orillera (2019) and Voraz y melancólico (2019) by Toto Castiñeiras, with the aim of exploring the body as a locus of resistance to established norms. These norms are understood in terms of heteronormativity and other forms of social regulation. In these works, the body becomes a site of debate over the hegemonic cultural constructions of corporeality. To examine the impact of discourse on the (trans)formation of the body, this study draws on the conceptual frameworks of Michel Foucault (1975), Judith Butler (1993), and Jeffrey Jerome Cohen (1996). A secondary aim is to investigate how the body is represented through theatrical writing and the role of this representation in conveying meanings related to gender and marginalization of the individual through superstition. Finally, the concepts of monstrosity and the monstrous (Foucault 1975, Cohen 1996) are incorporated as key analytical tools.
