In the Northern Basque Country, the transmission and use of the Basque language still face significant challenges, even though substantial progress has been made in the field of education over recent decades. In any case, the reasons that lead families to choose Basque are not always as clear or homogeneous as one might think. This study analyzes the ideologies behind parents' choices, moving beyond affective and identity-based perspectives to approach instrumental and social motivations. Indeed, according to the results obtained, it can be seen that choosing models that incorporate Basque into education is not always an indicator of attachment to the minority language, and the pragmatic and ideological dominance of French remains high. How, then, do macro-level language policies affect families' language ideologies? In this specific sociolinguistic context, what factors condition the choice in favor of the minority language, and how?
Ipar Euskal Herrian, euskararen transmisioak eta erabilerak erronka handiak dituzte oraindik ere, nahiz eta azken hamarkadetan aurrerapen esanguratsuak egin diren hezkuntza arloan. Edonola ere, familiak euskara hautatzera eramaten dituzten arrazoiak ez dira beti uste bezain argiak edota homogeneoak. Ikerketa honek gurasoen hautuen atzean dauden ideologiak aztertzen ditu, ikuspegi afektiboetatik eta identitarioetatik harago, motibazio instrumental eta sozialetara hurbilduz. Izan ere, jasotako emaitzen arabera, ikus daiteke hezkuntza mailan euskara txertatzen duten ereduak aukeratzea ez dela beti hizkuntza gutxituarekiko atxikimenduaren adierazle, eta frantsesaren nagusitasun pragmatiko eta ideologikoa oraindik ere handia dela. Nola eragiten dute, beraz, makro-mailako hizkuntza-politikek familien hizkuntza-ideologietan? Testuinguru soziolinguistiko zehatz horretan, zein faktorek eta nola baldintzatzen dute hizkuntza gutxituaren aldeko hautua? Hitz gakoak: Ipar Euskal Herria, euskara, hizkuntza-ideologiak,
