El espanglés es un fenómeno lingüístico complejo restringido a los Estados Unidos y algunas zonas fronterizas con ese país. La llegada de numerosos términos y estructuras procedentes del inglés al idioma español que se habla en el resto de las regiones no da lugar al espanglés ni lo constituye, por lo que no debe confundirse con éste a pesar de que coloquialmente se llama espanglés al lenguaje que presenta influencias inglesas en mayor o menor grado. El español neutro es una variante artificial del español y, por requerir un grado notable de estudio e investigación, su aprendizaje representa un esfuerzo adicional difícilmente esperable entre quienes no dominan bien su español vernáculo, como es el caso general de quienes usan el espanglés. La defensa contra las traducciones anglicadas solo puede conseguirse por medio de la capacitación de los traductores para que conozcan a fondo su lengua, independientemente de la variante vernácula, en el marco de un respeto absoluto y un mayor conocimiento de las diferencias y las realidades lingüísticas de las diversas comunidades de habla española, incluida la estadounidense.
Spanglish is a complex language phenomenon limited to the United States of America and some areas bordering that country. The entry of numerous terms and structures from English into the Spanish language spoken in the rest of the world does not produce or constitute Spanglish, and should not be mistaken for it even though "Spanglish" is a colloquial term in Spanish for a language featuring English influence to a greater or lesser extent. Neutral Spanish is an artificial dialect of Spanish, and since it requires a significant degree of scholarship and research, learning it involves additional efforts that can hardly be expected from those who do not manage their own vernacular Spanish dialect well, as is generally the case among Spanglish speakers. Defense against anglicized translations can only be achieved by training translators to acquire in-depth knowledge of their language-regardless of their vernacular dialect-with complete respect for, and increased awareness of, the linguistic differences and realities of the various Spanish-speaking communities, including the US community
