Aquest treball analitza les principals aportacions teòriques que, des de l’àmbit dialectològic, han aparegut entorn del concepte d’espanyol atlàntic. En primer lloc, es discuteix la vigència d’una disciplina tradicional, com la dialectologia, dins del panorama de la lingüística moderna i en relació amb altres disciplines complementàries, com la sociolingüística i la geolingüística. La secció principal de l’article fa un recorregut per la gènesi del concepte d’espanyol atlàntic, avalua la seva pervivència en l’actualitat i pretén caracteritzar el sistema dialectal espanyol. Finalment, s’exposen les principals conclusions que es desprenen de la revisió teòrica d’aquesta noció.
This study examines the main theoretical contributions that have emerged from the dialectological field around the concept of Atlantic Spanish. First, the validity of a traditional discipline, such as dialectology, is discussed in the frame of modern linguistics and in relation to other complementary disciplines, for example, sociolinguistics and geolinguistics. The central section of the article aims to cover the genesis of the principle of Atlantic Spanish, considers its persistence across time and tries to characterize the Spanish dialectal system. Finally, the paper includes the most significant conclusions arising from this theoretical review.
