La literatura chicana femenina es una manifestación hispánica de los márgenes del sistema dominante de los Estados Unidos. Esta literatura no solo confronta la sociedad angloamericana, que segrega y presiona a las minorías a una rápida asimilación, sino también los propios valores tradicionales de las comunidades hispánicas, a menudo machistas y obsoletos en la sociedad actual. Este artículo expone la forma como esta literatura es representación de la hispanidad en los EEUU y se basa en claros objetivos sociales y políticos, indicando nuevos caminos a la mujer hispánica.
Chicana literature is a Hispanic manifestation of the margins of the dominant American system. This literature not only confronts the Anglo-American society, which segregates and urges minorities to a fast assimilation, but also the traditional values of the Hispanic communities themselves, often sexist and obsolete in today's society. This article demonstrates how this literature is a representation of the Hispanic culture in the USA and is based on clear social and political objectives, indicating new paths to Hispanic women.
