Algo más de quince años nos separan del muy temprano fallecimiento de Roberto Bolaño (1955-2003) y, entre tanto, su obra se ha integrado duraderamente en el canon literario-lo cual puede parecer bastante irónico visto el gran detractor de la canonización literaria que fue. La obra de este autor chileno ha sido extensamente comentada, aún más desde su deceso, y la crítica presenta enfoques muy diversos como, entre otros, la memoria y el pasado traumático (véanse Alba Solá García, María Luisa Fischer, Susana Florinda Ramírez, entre otros), la hibridez genérica (por ejemplo en María Paz Olivier), la fragmentación narrativa e identitaria (véase Mireia Companys Tena). Se presenta aquí una nueva perspectiva sobre la fragmentación del individuo, considerando las modalidades espacial, temporal y memorial como un conjunto de factores de desintegración de la identidad del narrador, en un proceso dinámico que se desarrolla en el tiempo.
Aunque Susana Florinda Ramírez, Karim Benmiloud, Khalil Chaar Pérez y Armando Velázquez Soto, entre otros, ya hayan estudiado la problemática identitaria en la novela, se centran principalmente en la figura del monstruo, Carlos Wieder, haciendo referencia a la del narrador como contrapunto. Además, no consideran la desintegración de la identidad como un proceso en el tiempo, sino como un evento puntual. Por tanto, en este ensayo se exploran las tres modalidades de la pérdida de identidad mencionadas presentes en Estrella distante en un proceso temporal, examinándolas desde la perspectiva del narrador.
A little more than fifteen years separate us from the very early death of Roberto Bolaño (1955-2003) and, in the meantime, his work has been permanently integrated into the literary canon - which may seem quite ironic given the great detractor of literary canonization that it was. The work of this Chilean author has been extensively commented, even more since his death, and the critics present very diverse approaches such as, among others, memory and the traumatic past (see Alba Solá García, María Luisa Fischer, Susana Florinda Ramírez, among others. others), generic hybridity (for example in María Paz Olivier), narrative and identity fragmentation (see Mireia Companys Tena). A new perspective on the fragmentation of the individual is presented here, considering the spatial, temporal and memorial modalities as a set of factors of disintegration of the identity of the narrator, in a dynamic process that develops over time.
Although Susana Florinda Ramírez, Karim Benmiloud, Khalil Chaar Pérez and Armando Velázquez Soto, among others, have already studied the identity problem in the novel, they focus mainly on the figure of the monster, Carlos Wieder, referring to that of the narrator as a counterpoint. Furthermore, they do not consider the disintegration of identity as a process in time, but as a specific event. Therefore, this essay explores the three aforementioned forms of identity loss present in distant Star in a temporal process, examining them from the narrator's perspective.
