Este artículo reúne una serie de representaciones iconográficas que muestran cómo Estambul ha fascinado tanto a Oriente como a Occidente. Los elementos que más han llamado la atención a los viajeros han quedado recogidos en las obras de diversos pintores, en cuyos cuadros encontramos retratos del sultán, odaliscas, harenes y paisajes, como la vista del Cuerno de Oro o de Santa Sofía.
This article presents a series of iconographic representations that show how Istanbul has fascinated both Orient and Occident. The elements that attracted attention of the travelers have been painted in the works of several artists, in whose pictures we can find sultan’s portraits, odalisques, harems and lanscapes, like views of the Golden Horn or the Hagia Sophia.
