La historiografía contemporánea ha otorgado mucha más atención al estudio de la Segunda República española que a la Primera por motivos obvios. Sin embargo, la fugaz experiencia republicana de 1873 constituyó un momento de exploración política muy interesante con intelectuales de primer nivel. Entre ellos destacó un cordobés aún desconocido, Enrique Pérez de Guzmán, un aristócrata de antigua y rica cuna, rara avis entre los suyos, que desempeñó un papel fundamental para el republicanismo en todo el último tercio del siglo XIX.
Contemporary historiography has given much more attention to the study of the Second Spanish Republic than to the First for obvious reasons. However, the fleeting republican experience of 1873 was a very interesting moment of political exploration with first-rate intellectuals. Among them stood out a still unknown cordovan, Enrique Pérez de Guzmán, an aristocrat of ancient and rich birth, a rare bird among his people, who played a fundamental role during the months of republican parliamentarism and until his death in 1902.
