En el presente artículo se estudia la reinterpretación del viaje al Hades en la Odisea (2019) de Javier Negrete. Se realiza un análisis literario de los personajes, lugares y motivos característicos del tema en la novela y se comparan con elementos similares en obras del mundo antiguo. Además del hipotexto principal, la Nékyia de Homero, y de la influyente catábasis en la Eneida de Virgilio, se tendrán en consideración otras manifestaciones del tema a lo largo de la historia de la literatura occidental, así como las restantes obras del autor y otras creaciones de la cultura contemporánea. This article examines the reinterpretation of the journey to Hades in Javier Negrete’s Odyssey(2019). A literary analysis of the theme’s distinctive characters, places, and motifs in the novel is conducted, comparing them with similar elements in works from the ancient world. In addition to the main hypotext, Homer’s Nekyia, and the influential katabasis in Virgil’s Aeneid, other manifestations of the theme throughout the history of Western literature will be considered, as well as the author’s remaining works and other creations from contemporary culture. Javier Negrete’s reworking adds new depth to the Homeric episode by merging references from different eras and genres.Keywords:Odyssey, Javier Negrete, Greek and Latin literature, contemporary culture, comparative analysis
