Almeida Garrett es un autor paradigmático en la transición del neoclasicismo al romanticismo, del antiguo régimen a los movimientos liberales del siglo XIX, por lo que su obra dramática ha sido escogida para estudiar cómo se constituye la formación de los tiempos compuestos en el estándar portugués de nuestros días. Se han seguido trabajos previos, en especial de Mattos e Silva y Juan M. Carrasco, que establecieron la evolución de estos tiempos hasta el siglo XVIII. Los resultados obtenidos permiten afirmar que, en efecto, la formación de los tiempos compuesto del portugués actual se fija en ese momento.
Almeida Garrett is a paradigmatic author in the transition from neoclassicism to romanticism and from the old regime to the liberal movements of the 19th century. For this reason, his dramatic work has been chosen for studying how the formation of compound tenses is constituted in contemporary Portuguese. Previous works by Mattos e Silva and Juan M. Carrasco were followed, which established the evolution of these tenses up to the 18th century. The results obtained allow us to affirm that the formation of the current Portuguese compound tenses was fixed at that time.
