El presente trabajo constituye el repaso del empleo de las quintillas de ciego en las relaciones de fiestas novohispanas del siglo XVII, sin olvidar los antecedentes de finales del siglo XVI y los certámenes poéticos. Se hace énfasis en la tonalidad jocoseria y a veces burlesca de estas composiciones, de tal manera que las quintillas adquieren la función narrativa y subrayan el carácter gracioso de la fiesta que recreaba espacios destinados a la construcción de la comunidad local.
This paper aims to analyze the use of the quintillas de ciego in the printed accounts of festivities of the 17th century New Spain, including the antecedents of the late 16th century and the poetic competitions. The jocose and sometimes burlesque tonality of these compositions is emphasized, so that they acquire a narrative function and underline the humorous nature of the festivity that was recreating spaces appointed to construct the local community.
