El objetivo del trabajo consiste en examinar las concepciones acerca de la cultura de los estudiantes de primer y tercer curso del grado equivalente a Filología Hispánica en Senegal, así como sus conocimientos acerca de la cultura del mundo hispano. Tras analizar las ideas del alumnado acerca de la cultura, se ha prestado atención al equilibrio entre las tres culturas y los espacios hispanohablantes en sus percepciones y conocimientos. Los resultados de los cuestionarios han mostrado que los estudiantes manifiestan un mayor interés por los contenidos culturales españoles; que identifican un mayor número de elementos referidos a la Cultura, si bien los conocimientos relacionados con la Cultura y la cultura están equilibrados; y que su nivel de conocimientos culturales del mundo hispano es bajo. Para concluir, se expresa la necesidad de despertar el interés del alumnado por las culturas hispánicas y de ofrecerles recursos para que se acerquen a ella dentro y fuera del aula.
This work aims to examine the prevailing conceptions about culture held by first and third-year students in the degree equivalent to Hispanic Philology in Senegal, as well as their knowledge about the culture of the Hispanic world in particular. After analyzing the students’ ideas about culture, a special focus has been placed on the balance among the so-called three cultures and the Spanish-speaking spaces in their perceptions and knowledge. The results of the questionnaires have shown that students show a greater interest in Spanish cultural content; that they identify a larger number of elements related to Culture, even if their knowledge related to Culture and culture is balanced; and that their level of cultural knowledge of the Hispanic world is low. In conclusion, the need to awaken students’ interest in Hispanic cultures and to provide them with resources to approach it outside the classroom is highlighted.
