This article describes the linguistic ideology contained in the folklorological-literary works of the Chilean Folklore Society. The study is based on a set of works representative of the production of this institution, written by Agustín Cannobbio and Ramón Laval, and dated between 1901 and 1923. The main ideologemes of these metalinguistic discourses are identified and hypotheses about their role in the formation of regimes of social normativity in Chile at the beginning of the 20th century. The presence of ele-ments observed in other areas of the production of this society is confirmed, such as Hispanism and the discursive inferiorization of subaltern subjects, which account for the inscription of these discourses in the positivist modernizing device that the Chilean State mobilizes in that period.
