Starting from a restrictive concept of the Moorish romancero, which for us is exclusively romancero nuevo and excludes transitional poets from the period that has been called erudite, we analize the presence of the Moorish genre in the Flor de varios romances (Huesca, 1589) and we correct the percentages offered by Menéndez Pidal (1953). As an appendix to our work, we present the percentage evolution of the Moorish romancero in the series of the remaining Flowers, which which will be the source of the Romancero General (1600). The comparison between the Flor of Huesca and the Primera y segunda (1591) clarifies the boundaries between the erudite romancero of Moorish theme and the new Moorish romancero. As for the editorial history of the Moorish romancero, its correct weighting seems to us an essential element when interpreting the genesis and decline of the genre and to unlink both phenomena from the recurrent socio-historical interpretation of the Moorish genre.
