, Francisco Luque Janodet ), págs. 483-507En este estudio realizamos un análisis empírico de las referencias culturales en el contexto del turismo rural y estudiamos el tratamiento de los culturemas desde una perspectiva contrastiva (español-inglés). Los datos se obtuvieron a partir de un corpus paralelo ad hoc de textos de alojamientos de turismo rural de la comunidad autónoma de Castilla y León (España) y sus traducciones al inglés. Las referencias culturales relacionadas con los edificios de turismo rural fueron analizadas y categorizadas, examinándose las técnicas de traducción empleadas. Los resultados indican que la traducción directa es el método más común (69.3%), seguida de la generalización (15.8%). La traducción directa es la técnica más eficazmente utilizada (90.6%), mien-tras que la generalización presenta el mayor índice de inadecuación (76.5%). Los corpus paralelos se revelan como herramientas valiosas para identificar la termino-logía y fraseología de uso común en una lengua, ayudando así a evitar errores ligados a la cultura.
Our study aims to investigate the treatment of culturemes in the context of rural tourism from a contrastive perspective (Spanish-English). Data were obtained from an ad hoc parallel corpus comprising texts from rural tourism accommodations in the autonomous region of Castile and Leon (Spain) and their English translations. We analyzed and categorized cultural references related to rural tourism buildings and examined the translation techniques employed. The results indicate that 69.7% of the equivalences used in the target texts are adequate, with direct translation (69.3%) being the most common method, followed by generalization (15.8%). Regarding adequacy percentages, direct translation is the most effectively used technique (90.6%), while generalization exhibits the highest rate of inadequacy (76.5%). Given the abundance of cultural references in the analyzed texts, parallel corpora prove to be valuable tools for identifying commonly used terminology and phraseology in a language, thus helping to avoid culture-bound mistakes.
